Social Work Abroad Program | SWAP

ABOUT SWAP

SWAP stands for AIESEC in Nigeria Social Work Abroad Program. It is an AIESEC in Nigeria initiative that provides participants an international platform to work abroad, around challenging social issues, majorly MDG’s but also around other pressing social issues. In AIESEC we believe that everyone should live an issue-based experience. By this we mean that our programs and activities should create more projects that tackle and create solutions to global issues.

With SWAP, participants get to live through a life changing experience which allows them to work in a foreign country, gain international work experience and at the same time work towards the attainment of the Millennium Development Goals or other pressing social issue.

BENEFITS OF SWAP

Every participant in SWAP stands to gain the following benefits and more:

WHAT CAN YOU DO
Social Work Abroad Program is a Global Community Development Program (GCDP) one of the two kinds of traineeships AIESEC provides, the other being Global Internship Program

Global Community Development Program

A Global Community Development Programme (GCDP) experience is an opportunity for young people to develop entrepreneurial and responsible leadership by creating direct positive impact through an international volunteer experience.

Typically you will be given no salary or in some cases you might get a stipend too but will be provided with accommodation (sometimes for a small price) and sometimes food and local transport costs are covered too. Examples of the work covered are- e.g. Environmental development, working in poor communities, creating advertising. SWAP is a classic example of an initiative that promotes these kinds of traineeships.
